European Parliament President in Zagreb for Official Visit

The President of the European Parliament Antonio Tajani is in Zagreb for an official visit. The Italian diplomat was received by the parliamentary speaker, the president and the prime minister. Talks focused on Croatia’s role as a stabilising force in Southeast Europe and in aiding neighbouring countries on their path towards EU membership.

More than 30,000 secondary school pupils celebrate graduation

Over 30 thousand pupils graduating from secondary schools in Croatia held their traditional end of school celebrations today. In Zagreb, they congregated in Ban Jelačić Square this morning before heading en masse to the Bundek lake recreational park where they continued to party.

Last day of campaigning before Sunday’s local elections

The campaigning for the local elections comes to an end today. Tomorrow a period of electoral silence begins ahead of Sunday’s first round of voting. There are over 47 thousand candidates, which is almost 9 thousand less than at the last one. They are standing for positions in 21 counties, 127 towns and 428 municipalities. Polling stations around the country will be monitored by more than 10 thousand official observers.
