Zagreb is hosting the Croatian World Games for the second time, an amateur sports event for Croats and their descendents from around the world. The project, unofficially named the “Cro-Olympiad – Olympic Games with a Croatian Character” will gather the greatest number of participants to date, from July 18th to 22nd, 2017.
From table tennis and football to swimming and golf, some 1200 people, from 31 countries, will compete in 16 disciplines.
An interesting and rich program has been prepared off the sports terrains as well. For some participants arrival at the games will be their first visit to the homeland and a chance to see its beauties, but also culture and history. Organizers have ensured that they get to know Zagreb and Croatia better through museums and exhibits, but also through socializing and concerts that will be held each evening near the Stjepan Radić Student Centre where all participants will be accommodated.
The 4th Games are being organized by the Croatian World Congress and the Central State Office for Croats outside the Republic of Croatia. So far they have been held in 2006 and 2010 in Zadar and in 2014 in Zagreb.
With the motto „One Heart, One Croatia“, the Voice of Croatia will be following all events on and off the terrain and sharing sports results and the impressions of Croats that have arrived to Zagreb from all corners of the world.
